Social/family pressure, religion, “handouts,” and other wrong reasons are part of overpopulation, and why most parents fail at parenting.
Parenting should require a license, classes, and a stable income first. Raising a pet should also be a factor to at least have an idea what responsibility is like.
If I had things my way, I’d have mandatory birth control for both men and women until they are capable of making children. Sex Ed. would be about “here’s contraception and this is how it works” along with the stds involved.
But what’s the lesson of the day? Education. Teach people that raising kids is not easy, and since everyone starts out as a child, we know some of the hardships our parents went through whether financially and/or emotionally.
