American education in a nutshell. Some would consider our setup as a catch 22 because you need one for the other. Regardless of which one between education or experience you decide first, you always need the other one to get anywhere. Here’s a couple of examples:
We need someone who’s 22 with 30 years experience
Although you have a degree we still require someone to have the experience
You have experience but we need someone who also had schooling
You have both education and experience? We will hire the one who had neither because you’re overqualified
If you’re struggling to find something, do what I’m doing – make your position. It’s taking time and effort, but it’s definitely worth the headache once everything takes off.
